Romania is very well situated for agricultural trading, and the storage capacity at main port and trading hub Constanta is expanding continuously, with current estimated capacity of 1-1,5 million tons (MMT). This is the main trading hub not just for Romania but also Bulgaria, Hungary and Serbia. Romania is one of the top exporters in wheat export. The port is about to get a major boost through a new grain storage and handling complex set to transfer 72,000 tons a day onto ships six times faster than the current pace. The complex cost more than €50 million and was funded mainly by local banks.
