Belarus has been a net importer of buckwheat for many years. Russia is one of the key trade partners in the buckwheat export. In March 2020, the volume of buckwheat deliveries fell by 70% in comparison to March 2019. A representative from the Agrarian department emphasized on Belarus aiming to become self-reliant in term of Buckwheat. It aims to increase domestic production and ban any imports in future.
