Due to the continuous spreading of the coronavirus, all cargo ships that are carrying agricultural commodities such as fruits and herbs from overseas would have to go through further inspections in order to be granted clearance to enter Indonesia. This newly implemented health and safety procedure can be found in major ports in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Surabaya, and Deli Serdang in North Sumatra. This further inspection is performed by the local FDA (Foods and Drugs Administration) and the inspection can take up to 14 days to complete. As such, there have been temporary delays in the distribution process to the local importers' warehouse and may affect the delivery time to the local consumers. Still, the government of Indonesia emphasizes that this preventive action should be taken to ensure that the commodities are safe to consume.
