In 2020, Myanmar potato businesses are being undercut by cheaper potatoes imported from China. Despite the existing regulations and quotas for imported potatoes, Chinese traders are able to export the produce illegally into Myanmar's local markets. Many locals in Myanmar prefer Chinese potatoes over the locally grown, as the quality of Chinese potatoes is better and the price is at least 10% less relative to those grown in Myanmar.
