Iran produces around 90 KMT of honey annually and exports around 8,000 MT to various countries but mainly to the Gulf region.
Domestic annual honey consumption is said to be 600 grams per capita.
Iranian beekeepers have turned their eyes to new export markets as domestic prices are not at a satisfactory level and there's a production surplus of 20 KMT per year.
Also, Iranian beekeepers are expecting a better year for honey extraction starting in July.
