The Argentine government declared on Friday, December 18th, a State of Emergency and/or agricultural disaster, as appropriate, from September 1, 2020, to March 31, 2022, for livestock (goat and cattle) farms affected by the drought throughout the territory of Mendoza.

Among the benefits included in the Agricultural Emergency Law, (No. 26,509) producers will be able to deduct 100% of the profits derived from the forced sales of cattle, sheep, goats, or pigs from the income tax balance generated by the emergency situation.

Even though Mendoza Province is not a major meat producer, the measure probably also aims to have an impact on the country’s producers' view/opinion towards the administration since they have a history of disputes.
