Arab countries bought more Brazilian coffee this year

The Arab countries purchased 2.8% more coffee from Brazil in the accumulated result for this year compared to the same period in 2019. The volume purchased from January to August 2020 was 1.17 million bags of 60 kg of coffee. The revenue generated by these shipments fell by 8%, totaling US$ 123.9 million in the first eight months of 2020.

The participation of the Arab bloc as a destination for Brazilian coffee had a small increase in the same comparison, going from 4.2% to 4.5%. The data were released by the Council of Coffee Exporters in Brazil (Cecafé) on Friday (11).

The total coffee exported by Brazil in the year was 26.4 million bags, the second-largest volume shipped for the period in the last five years. The foreign exchange revenue generated from total exports from January to August was US$ 3.4 billion.
