Turkish Demand for Avocado Increases for Domestic and Transit Markets

Turkish demand for avocados continues to increase which has incentivized import companies to source avocados from international markets. The average price of avocado in the domestic market is USD 0.99 per piece. However, importers do not only source avocados for the domestic market, but also for transit markets, with the main transit market being Russia. Turkish importers have already started negotiating sales contracts with buyers in transit markets, relying on avocado imports from Morocco and Kenya. Morocco has a more advantageous transit time compared to other nearby producer countries such as Kenya and is the preferred sourcing country.
