Banana Producers Express Concerns Over Price Disparities in the UK Retail Fruit Business

In a recent CORBANA presentation organized to Costa Rican banana producers about the diligence in the value chain, producers expressed concern about UK retailers keeping the price offered to the end consumers with almost no change for more than 25 years. Apples and other fresh fruits have increased in price, but banana prices have remained the same since 1993. When discussing the Due Deligence legislation in the European Union, producers expressed their concern about the retail price affecting the sales price of bananas.
