REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- National food production is considered to be maintained amid global pressures and international trade dynamics. In the February 2026 Monthly Update report, the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF) asserts that fundamentally, domestic production capacity remains strong, with some strategic commodities even experiencing surpluses. Head of the Center of Food, Energy and Sustainable Development INDEF, Abra Talattov, conveyed that food price pressures at the beginning of 2026 were more influenced by distribution and trade factors than by production limitations. This indicates that, from a supply perspective, the national food foundation is relatively in a safe condition.
