Bulgarian potato growers are expecting an increase of 19% in the potato production despite the fact that cultivation areas have decreased by 17% in the country.

As of September 10th, the production output stands at 86.3K MT. However, the potato industry is facing another challenge this year as there is a decline in the consumption caused by the Covid-19 outbreak. Farmgate prices are around EUR 0.12 per kg (excl. VAT) and the situation seems to be similar all across Europe with prices in Germany around EUR 0.07 per kg and Poland EUR 0.04 per kg.
