Brazilian staple exports to Arab countries reach a historic milestone this year

As the largest halal products exporter in the world, Brazil is reaching a new milestone in exports of agricultural products to Arab countries this year. From January to September 2020, 11.7 million tonnes of sugar and grain were exported to the Arab countries, out of which 7.3 million tonnes was sugar, 3.4 million tonnes was maize, 954 thousand tonnes was soybean and 10 thousand tonnes was rice.

The main destinations were Algeria (US$ 495 million), Saudi Arabia (US$ 299 million), Morocco (US$ 291 million) and Egypt (US$ 278 million). Egypt was the largest importer of maize, Algeria the largest of soybean, and Saudi Arabia the largest of rice.
