The exports of cassava and cassava powder in Vietnam are predicted to increase in volume and value thanks to the reopening of the cassava manufacturing plants in China. For the first 6 months of 2020, exports of cassava and cassava products were estimated at 1.38 million tons, worth US $ 471 million, up 15.8% in volume and up 2.4% in value over the same period last year. The Export-Import Department forecasted that Vietnam's export of cassava chips and starch will further increase in the coming time when Chinese processing plants become more active after the period of maintenance. Export prices for these two items will also increase gradually due to better demand from China, while domestic supply is scarce due to hot weather conditions.
