California peach and nectarine growers are feeling the effect of labor shortages as the lack of agricultural workers this year is leading to smaller size fruits being harvested. Lack of fruit pickers across Central California has caused fields to not be thinned on time, therefore making it difficult for larger fruits to develop. Marketwise, this has caused for a surplus of peaches and nectarines in the size 54/56 and smaller ranges.
