In the United States, local farmers report they had to remove young almond trees in Central California due to the lack of water and the persistent drought. Farmers are experimenting with different crops and trees that require less water or are drought-resistant. One of the mentioned crops is the blue agave plant from Jalisco, Mexico, which is used exclusively to produce tequila, farmers are testing with 4K plants of agave in Central California, and will take up to 5 to 7 years to mature.
