Carrot prices in Tajikistan increased 5 times in April-May

Over the past two months, prices for carrots in Tajikistan have increased fivefold. At the beginning of March the price for carrots was 2 TJS/kg (0.18 USD/kg), today it costs 10 TJS/kg ($ 0.89 USD/kg).

According to farmers, the price of carrots highly depends on the season. There is no carrot harvest in April-May, therefore, in these two months, farmers sell products from refrigerated warehouses to wholesalers at higher prices. However, this period does not last long - the price of carrots should decrease when the next harvest appear in early June.
