As industrial activity resumes after the effects of the pandemic and raw material prices recover, producers of cassava intensified its harvest in the Brazilian state of Parana, which accounts for 60% of national production. From March to August many industries that use cassava starch and flour were closed, with a detrimental effect on the commercialization of the root when prices dropped significantly.

According to the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply of the State of Parana (SEAB), 90% of the 19/20 cassava harvest is completed with an estimated production of 3.5 million tonnes.
