Usually considered one of the options for the second crop, castor seed is losing ground to more profitable and easier to market crops such as corn, cotton and sesame. Only three Brazilian states produced castor bean this year. According to Conab (National Supply Company), there was a reduction of 2.4% in the cultivated area, just over 45 thousand hectares. On the other hand, the yield increased by 7.8% and offset the loss of area this time.
