Colombia's avocado industry has two main challenges currently affecting the market. Firstly, cash buyers who prepay 100% for avocados are causing price volatility and disrupting agreements between producers and buyers. This volatile pricing makes it difficult to establish stable container prices. Secondly, blockages on key roads like the Panamerican Highway and in regions like Nariño, Putumayo, and Cauca are isolating farms and preventing the transportation of avocados from these areas, further complicating the supply chain.
