Perak waters are the main area for clam capture for Peninsular Malaysia since 20 years ago. However, for the past 5 years, the catch is reduced by 70%, which makes local fishermen have to catch a small clam to cater to the local market. To prevent this from getting worse, many fishermen started farming clam to ensure that Perak waters can return to give the same catch as before.
