Brazilian cotton exports in the 2019/2020 crop year are 1.95 million tonnes, surpassing the value exported in 2018/2019 by around 49%, reaching the second place as the world's largest exporter. Brazil already has 84% of the 2019/2020, and 44% of the 2020/2021 harvests marketed, reflecting a strong market through early commercialization.

The higher anticipated commercialization level is also based on the high classification of the Brazilian cotton, since the topography, the climate, and the technology implanted in the 'cerrado' (Brazilian savanna biome) guarantee quality, sustainability and productivity. Due to its high added value throughout the production chain, from the field to the hands of the consumer, Brazilian cotton is known as “white gold”.
