Gourds crop failure happened due to the damage happened to the "pandals" (a structure for growing the gourd vegetables; a temporary shed erected for the cultivation) by the heavy down pouring of rain in Tamilnadu- Karnataka- Andhra growing belt during 15th November to 22nd November. The vegetable prices are skyrocketing. For example, ladies finger price went up to USD 0.85 per kg from USD 0.45 per kg and tomatoes prices surged to USD 1.71 per kg from USD 0.71 per kg due to the less availability of the good quality material in the aforementioned week
