In the present growing vegetable season for Culiacan, agronomists of the valley have faced problems regarding insects that have been difficult to control. Vectors transmit different diseases to the crops and currently, White flies, Trips, aphids(types of Vector insects) are present in the Valley.
The principal cause that these vectors appeared in this region is a shortage of rain. The rainy season is over in the area and the relative humidity is not enough to avoid insects from growing. Tobacco mosaic virus is mostly detected and the crops that have been affected include Tomatoes, Bell peppers, Eggplants, Squashes, Cucumbers, and Hot peppers. Preventive systemic pesticides and constantly monitoring process are needed to resove the problem.
