Thousands of farmers in Bangladesh are concerned about a massive infestation of cutworms, known as katui poka, on mustard plants in several Upazilas of the area, as insecticides have failed to prevent or control the problem.

Local farmers reported that after the recent floodwaters, they planted several mustard plants in their fields to have a big crop yield and be compensated for the flood losses. However, the insects began cutting the mustard seedlings at an early stage, putting an end to their hopes. Agriculture officials from Upazila stated that they actively monitored the situation and offered appropriate guidance to the affected farmers.
