The Green Development and Demonstration Program (GUDP) under the Ministry of Environment and Food from Denmark is funding 15M DKK (€2m) to develop faba bean cultivars suitable for the Danish climate and soil. The intent is to organically decrease the country's reliance on imported soybeans for its livestock supply. Faba beans are especially yielding under moist and temperate conditions. The solution may cause further retraction on GMO soybean inflows, as this oilseed option is not suitable to the actual EU trends, and to avoid input costs for the NON-GMO.
