Domestic Market Price of Main Grains in Tanzania Has Doubled YoY

The domestic market price of the main grains for human consumption in Tanzania has doubled since July 2021. The price of maize has gone up from USD 0.19/kg in July 2021 to USD 0.37/kg by July 2022. Similarly, other main grains also affected by this inflation include a USD 0.29/kg increase in rice, a USD 0.09/kg increase in beans and a USD 0.11/kg rise in the price sorghum.
