Farmers from central part of Russia claim that the 2022 chickpea harvest is smaller in calibre than usual. This is mainly due to unfavourable weather conditions in summer that caused the seeds to be smaller in size. The most common chickpea calibre of the 2022 season is 6mm, while 7mm and 8mm are in much lower volume than usual. Hence, it is difficult to fulfil the buyers' needs, especially for 7mm or 8mm calibres, as most shipments are done with offers of 6+mm, which mainly includes 6mm and only some of 7mm and 8mm calibres.
