Ecuador Sets New Record for Frozen Shrimp Exports in Apr-24

According to the National Aquaculture Chamber of Ecuador (CNA), the country achieved a new record in frozen shrimp exports in April 2024, with 111,684 metric tons (mt) valued at USD 539 million. This marks a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 19% in volume and a 4% increase in value. For the first four months of 2024, Ecuador's shrimp export volume reached 384,116 mt, a slight 1% decrease from the previous year. The average export price of shrimp for this period stood at USD 4.91 per kilogram (kg), reflecting an 11% YoY decrease. China remains Ecuador's largest market, importing 62 thousand mt valued at USD 278 million in Apr-24.
