In the last two weeks of February 2023, a 2FCL shipment of navel oranges from Egypt arrived in Japan. Unfortunately, due to chilling damages that affected over half of each container load, neither shipment's arrival quality condition was favorable. According to the Japanese government's plant quarantine procedure, which mandates a cooling period for the internal disinfestation of prohibited insects, with temperatures at +2.0 C° or lower for 16 days, the primary cause of such damages is to be low tolerance to cold treatment.
