Excess supply and pandemic put pressure on Spanish walnut

This year's walnut campaign had a rough start as prices fluctuate 30% lower than in previous years. This pattern is explained by the excess demand coming from the US and Chile, and the effects that the pandemic had on demand.

US supply is expected to increase 16%, going from 625,000 MT to 790,000 MT. However, producers agree that there is still room for growth nationally and their campaigns are all focused in the internal demand.
