Due to the pandemic in Taiwan, the export of milkfish was at its lowest point in history: USD 1.00/kg, almost at the cost to produce the fish from start to harvest. This year with the market opening in several countries like the US and the Middle East, and the support from Taiwan's government to pay USD 0.5/kg for logistics directly to farmers to promote milkfish exports, the milkfish market is expected to see a 10%-20% bump in farm gate price.
