The first export of konjac in 2021 was completed earlier this month. This first shipment was done by the farmers association in Bali and was shipped to China. There were two containers sent, with a total of 50 MT of load capacity. This is a good indication for the Indonesian farmers in general, to have another good year in terms of the export of konjac in 2021. In recent years, the demand for konjac from the overseas buyer has been showing an upward trajectory with the recorded demand reaching 400 MT and 600 MT in 2019 and 2020, respectively. This new development also has presented new business opportunities for many more smallholder farmers across Indonesia who have shifted their focus to the production of this commodity, in order to meet the market demand.
