The Turkish potato season is still ongoing, and big producers of french fries are storing the products in their warehouses. According to Turkish producers and traders, despite a good harvest volume, production costs in 2022 have significantly increased compared to 2021, which include gasoline, fertiliser, labour costs, and energy costs, causing difficulties for price competitiveness for french fries. Thus, producers and exporters of french fries are having trouble competing for export prices, as Turkey's current export prices of french fries are around 25% higher than some neighbouring countries' prices.
