Fresh Red Plum Prices in Egypt Increased by 157.14% YoY During Jul-24 Amid Inflation and Currency Fluctuations

The price of fresh red plums in Egypt has surged by 157.14% year-on-year (YoY) to USD 3,733.5/ton (EGP 180,000/ton), up from USD 1,451.92/ton (EGP 70,000/ton) in Jul-23. This dramatic increase is due to high inflation and the rise in the value of the United States (US) dollar, which has climbed from USD 0.62 to 1.04 (EGP 30 to 50).
