The Government of Tanzania Seeks to Increase Wheat Cultivation Area by 400% in 2023

Due to the rise in the wheat price since the start of the Ukraine war, the Tanzania government has decided to increase the cultivation land area for wheat from the current 100K hectares to 400K hectares by 2023. Tanzania consumes over 1M MT of wheat yearly, out of which only 10% is domestically sourced while the remaining 90% is imported.
