South African grapefruit export volumes to Europe have declined by 15% for 2022 due to lower demand for grapefruit from European markets. It appears that European consumers are simply eating less grapefruit. Prices have followed a similar trend and are down 15% YoY. This situation is becoming an issue for the South African grapefruit industry as the Netherlands is the largest market.
