The 2022 Greek broccoli season is not expected to start until mid-September. Therefore, Greek retailers and importers are looking to potentially fill the supply gap with imports from Italy and France. The imported volume is expected to be much lower than previous seasons due to high logistic costs and low production volumes in Western Europe pushing prices above the acceptable market level.

The domestic and regional markets appear to be ideal for Greek cauliflower and broccoli producers for the 2022/23 season. Pushed by already signed agreements from domestic retailers, producers are increasing the planted acreage for the 2022/23 season. Also, a rally in prices is expected in October and November when Baltic and Scandinavian countries will look for alternatives to Ukrainian vegetable supply which is expected to be limited due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Greek producers will be ideally positioned to fill the gap left by Ukrainian producers.
