The prices in the fields on Martinez de la Torre, Veracruz are absurd. Few growers are harvesting limes, but they are hesitant to sell the products even though the packers are offering USD 60-65. The U.S. market increases prices to USD 68-70 per box at FOB McAllen Shipping point.

One of the suppliers commented that growers want to get the highest price in history. The distributors at McAllen intend to change the countries of origin, such as Guatemala, Colombia, and other central or South American countries. These products will arrive next week because clients don`t want to pay those prices as the risk of no sales is very high. This situation makes customers turn their interests to substitute products like Eureka Lemon and Key Limes. The prices of lime will be normalized in 1-2 weeks when the products come, and the growers from Mexico get low on prices.
