Price of Broccoli in Japan Is Lower Than in 2021 Due to High Supply Volumes

The price of broccoli in the Tokyo market is trending lower than in 2021. Higher broccoli volumes for December 2022 are key to this trend. During W49 the Tokyo market had 21% more broccoli YoY, and its price moved between USD 1.58-1.93/kg compared to USD 2.38-2.51/kg in 2021. One of the main supply areas expanded the planted area and supplied 13% more broccoli YoY to the Tokyo market in W49. High supply volumes from the main growing regions would keep the price of broccoli low during December.
