Brazil is the world’s biggest instant coffee producer and exporter.
But in the land of coffee, where the consumption of ground roasted coffee is a tradition, instant coffee represents only 2% of the overall consumption. Ground roasted coffee accounts for 79%, while roasted coffee for 17%, whereas capsules account for just 2%.
Despite this, it is the 12th most influential product that moves resources in the Brazilian agribusiness, thanks to its role in the world of instant coffee trade. Almost 50% of the world's green coffee is used to produce instant coffee, while the finished product accounts for 25% of all retail brewed coffee consumption.
With regard to the Brazilian domestic market, the positive note is that the consumption of instant coffee in Brazil registered an average growth of 4.22% per year, in the last three years, a rate higher than that of roasted and ground coffee.
