Kenyan Mango Export to Be Negatively Affected by Russia-Ukraine War

The Kenyan mango export volume for the 2022 season will be negatively affected by the Russia-Ukraine war. This is primarily due to Danish shipping giant Maersk and France’s CMA CGM which canceled shipments to and from Russia as part of sanctions imposed by European countries on Russia in response to the invasion of Ukraine. Russia and Ukraine are significant importers of Kenyan mango. With the shipping ban, Kenyan mango will not be able to make its way to Russian and Ukrainian markets. Suppliers are attempting to forge strategic partnerships with traders in Middle Eastern markets and Turkey to divert the trade volume originally destined for Russia and Ukraine. The 2022 commercial Kenyan mango season is set to commence on the 20th of September.
