President Ruto has instructed the Kenyan Ministry of Trade at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi to collaborate with stakeholders to develop a Kenya tea brand, ensuring growers achieve good returns. The Head of State claimed that Kenyan tea has long been used to blend brands from other nations, and blended tea is subsequently sold for more money at the expense of Kenyan farmers. Kenya must increase its value-added tea exports from 5% in 2022 to at least 50% over the next five years. With that, the first consignment of Kenyan tea under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) trade plan was sent to Accra, Ghana.
