Despite cold weather across Europe during W4 and the anticipated cold snap at the end of W5, the balance of production and demand is driving prices down for all leafy vegetables. For instance, the iceberg lettuce prices, which were USD 1 per piece in W3, have dropped to USD 0.75 per piece in Ex Works (EXW) Spain. This decline in demand contrasts with the typical post-holiday detox trend and is accompanied by a growing preference for root and tuber vegetables. However, a price increase for leafy vegetables is expected after the first week of Feb-25, mainly due to a production gap in Spain. However, this is still being assessed across various farming regions.
