The regions of Catalonia and Lower Aragon in Spain, major producers of corn, are being impacted by a water shortage due to lack of rainfall in 2022. The Cereal Growers' Association is advising producers who do not do a double sowing cycle for corn to sow cereals such as barley and wheat as the water availability for next summer sowing is uncertain. Corn requires a lot of water, and lack of rainfall prevents the reservoirs from filling. This will result in decreased corn availability the following season, but in the short term, it may mean more wheat supply. In W43, the wheat price dropped 2.5% week-on-week (WoW) to USD 386.26/metric tons (mt) EXW, down from USD 396.21/mt EXW in W41.
