Mexican Mango has had to comply with tighter quality and health controls when exported to the U.S. as a result of recent USDA regulations that have come into force. Not only do Mexican producers have to comply with such regulations, but also they need to comply with global certifications on social responsibility such as SMETA, which is highly accepted among global buyers. Meeting the requirements and complying with these regulations or global standards require a bigger investment from Mexican growers, which will be translating into higher prices for Mexican Mango in the foreign markets.
