In W12, the price of Musang King durians grown in Vietnam is around USD 16.5 per kilogram (kg) for the special grade, resulting in nearly USD 50 for a 3-kg fruit. Market surveys show that prices started to rise in mid-Mar-24, even though it's early in the harvest season. Traders are buying the Musang King variety at wholesale prices ranging from USD 15.5/kg to USD 17.5/kg. This price increase for Vietnamese-grown Musang King durians is due to strong export demand and limited supply. The Musang King variety from Vietnam is known for its superior quality during the March-April period, so consumers highly seek it.
