Mustard cultivation has increased in Moulvibazar, Bangladesh

Due to a favorable weather, mustard cultivation is increasing in different upazilas of Moulvibazar, Bangladesh during the current Rabi season. Farmers of this district are benefiting by cultivating improved varieties of mustard. The large-scale production of mustard is showing potential in the rural economy. According to the District Agriculture Extension Department, mustard yield will be good this year. This year's mustard target has been set at 2,310 hectares of land. It has been cultivated in about 2400 hectares of land. Mustard has been cultivated in about 200 hectares of land more than last year. Mustard is likely to produce 1.4 MT per hectare. The main feature of the mustard 18 variety discovered by our scientists is that the amount of erucic acid in the oil of this variety is very small, which is 0.5%. If this variety becomes popular, many people will again take mustard oil as edible oil instead of soybean or palm oil.
