Myanmar wants Indian government to increase import of peas

OATA Myanmar wants the Indian Government to increase the import quota for urad (Matpe) and tur(Pigeon Peas) to 500,000 MT and 200,000 MT, respectively. Last year, India had signed a five-year memorandum of understanding with Myanmar to annually import 250,000 MT of urad and 100,000 MT of tur from the neighboring country. On the import front, traders expect the government to import a total of 650,000 MT of tur from major exporting countries such as Tanzania and Sudan till March-end.
