The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) developed a new cultivar of sorghum that guarantees high productivity in dry weather with high periods of drought. In addition to the high potential for biomass production, with a strong appeal for power generation, the BRS 716 sorghum cultivar has shown great cultivation versatility in low rain conditions in the off-season period, after the soybean harvest, allowing to produce fodder for cattle and soil cover for the no-tillage system. Even under rain limiting conditions due to the growing season being very dry, the cultivar came to produce 14 tonnes per hectare.
