Philippines Records 3.4% YoY Growth in Onion Production in Q2 2023

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported a 3.4% year-over-year (YoY) increase in onion production in Q2 2023, reaching 84.9 thousand tons, an increase from 82 thousand tons produced in 2022. Bermuda onion was the most produced variety, contributing 98.6% to the Philippines' onion production. The area harvested for onion increased 7.4% YoY to 19.8 thousand hectares (ha) from 18.4 thousand ha in Q2 2022.
